OK. As I mentioned in my Sunday column, it’s time to walk the talk. As an editorial writer, I’ve been writing plenty about our sedentary lifestyles and unhealthy dietary habits but have been setting a poor example.

So it’s time to do something about it. Today’s the first day of the county’s iWALK challenge, a campaign to get Sonoma County residents to commit to 150 minutes of exercise each week.

As part of that, the PD’s Jim Sweeney, Chris Smith and I are inviting anyone who would like to come to join us for an hour-long walk today through downtown Santa Rosa and along the Prince Memorial Greenway. Meet at noon in front of our building at 427 Mendocino Ave.

No training required. No fancy outfits please. Bring your dog or stroller. The goal is to go out for 30 minutes and come back in one piece.

If you come along, you’ve knocked off 40 percent of your goal for the week. And you may even get an iWALK sticker in the process. (Just heard that leaders from the iWALK campaign will be there, too.)

If you want, go to www.iwalksonoma.org to register. A workout log is available.

Let’s just do this. There are no two sides to this issue.
